5. Board Updates <br />• None <br />6. Public Comments on Items Not on Agenda <br />• None <br />7. New Board Member Orientation <br />• Welcome new members John, Shannon and Patricia <br />• Review of Parks and Public Landscaping Advisory Board Bylaws <br />• History of PPLAB, formerly HFAB (Horticulture and Forestry Advisory Board), nicknamed <br />the "Tree Board". <br />i. Primary responsibility was advising on public trees. A big project was the <br />building and improving of the Arboretum. <br />ii. Scope of the Board later widened to become the Parks and Public Landscaping <br />Advisory Board (PPLAB). <br />iii. One of the projects underway is upgrades to the town medians. Welcome new <br />input for the medians, along with other projects. <br />iv. Another ongoing project is subdivision entryways, formerly the responsibility of <br />HOAs, now inactive, so entryways are falling into disrepair. <br />v. Greenways along bike paths: these are the responsibility of Parks, looking <br />forward to discussion around greenways. <br />vi. Cemetery: very unique part of Parks responsibilities <br />vii. Parks is the hearing board for any discrepancies around forestry issues, for <br />example disputes around public trees slated for removal. <br />viii. Attendance: If you are not able to attend a meeting, please let Dean know. <br />Members must attend a minimum of 75% of meetings per year; however, <br />please communicate any circumstances which may prevent this requirement. <br />8. Election of Officers, Approval of Posting Locations and Distribution of Open Government <br />Pamphlet <br />• Nominations for Chair: Shelly nominated Ellen, Laurie seconded. <br />• Nominations for Chair Elect: Laurie nominated Shelly, Ellen seconded <br />• Nominations for Secretary: Shelly nominated Laurie, Ellen seconded. Back-up secretary: <br />John Webb volunteered to be back-up secretary <br />• Ellen moved to vote for all candidates; all candidates were voted in unanimously. <br />• Approval of Posting Locations (Agenda and Meeting Minutes, as part of open <br />government rules) <br />i. City Hall <br />ii. Recreation Center <br />iii. Library <br />iv. Police/Court Building <br />v. City Website (www.louisville.gov) <br />• Ellen moved to approve, Shelly seconded, Posting Locations approved unanimously <br />• Open Government Training: New members and legacy members will be invited to <br />complete open government training as needed. <br />i. Main rule to remember: Do not have accidental meetings by hitting "reply all" <br />to an informational email or text. Three or more people comprise a meeting. <br />3 <br />
