Recreation Advisory Board
Minutes
November 22, 2021
Boulder County Age Well Plan
• A link to the Boulder County Age Well Plan was provided in the RAB agenda packet.
• Kathy reported that the Boulder County Age Well Plan was based on a county -wide
survey from 2018. The format was changed to match the AARP framework, but the
newest version does not provide as much information specific to Louisville. In 2022
the process will start over again.
• The information is used by Boulder County Senior Services staff, who meet regularly
to plan services to meet the needs of the community.
• Louisville has a staff representative and a senior representative with the Boulder
County Agency on Aging.
• Kathy will present information specific to Louisville at another meeting in the future.
Ski Conditioning Class: Kathy reported that a ski conditioning class will start on Nov 30. It
will meet on Tuesdays and Thursday at 12:00.
Golf Course Update
Financial Feasibility RFP Update
• Nathan reported that the proposals were due last week. The National Golf Foundation
and REVPAR International submitted proposals. Nathan, David Baril, Michele Van
Pelt, and Dick Friedson are each scoring the proposals. The standard procedure is
that Nathan will select one of the companies based on the scoring, then begin the
procurement process which goes through City Council.
• Michele asked about the possibility of meeting with a representative from each
company before making a decision. If that's not possible, she would ask that
representatives from each company respond to follow-up questions based on the
proposals.
• Nathan plans to set up a Zoom meeting next week for follow-up questions.
• Nathan would like to bring the RFP results to the City Council on December 21.
Nathan reported information from David Baril. The golf course exceeded November
revenue expectations. Our mild weather led to another great month.
Nathan reported information from David Dean.
• With the slow supply chain, David will need to place an order in the first quarter of
2022, in order to obtain equipment when needed.
• He is researching hybrid/electric and completely electric equipment as more
environmentally sustainable options which can be presented to City Council.
• David is investigating an affiliation with a company in Boulder that is building
automated equipment. Perhaps the golf course could be used to test some of the
automated equipment.
5
