<br />2/15/83 <br /> <br />Page -7- <br /> <br />to see alternatives that councilmembers <br />could chose from where the population figures <br />would show relatively equalization, and the <br />criteria as discussed implemented. <br /> <br />Councilwoman Morris moved, Councilman Cussen <br />seconded that the ward map be referred back <br />to the Planning Staff to complete by the next <br />Council meeting, 2, 3, or 4 alternatives, to <br />include the criteria discussed by council. <br />Roll call vote: <br />Morris <br />Cummings <br />Cussen <br />Ferrera <br />Fauson <br />Leary <br />Meier <br />Motion defeated <br /> <br />Mayor Meier moved to have the notch in the <br />proposed Ward map straightened - the one <br />that ran by the south side of the Middle <br />School. <br />Motion defeated due to the lack of a second. <br />Discussion followed between Mayor and some <br />of the councilmembers as to inconsistency <br />with the Mayor's motion and that of Council- <br />woman Morris; the probability of the change <br />adding 7 to 8% more people to Ward II; whether <br />the lines should be raised or lowered in <br />Wards I and II; would one of the alternatives <br />to be made be to move Pine Street border <br />to Spruce St., was stability satisfied, etc. <br />Councilwoman Morris moved, Councilman Cussen <br />seconded that the Ward map be referred back <br />the the Planning Staff to review the concerns <br />as discussed along with the qualifications <br />discussed and present 2, 3, or how many other <br />reasonable alternatives they feel are possible <br />keeping with those factors into consideration. <br /> <br />Ward Map to be Referred <br />Back to Planning Staff for <br />Alternatives <br /> <br />Motion Defeated <br /> <br />Notch to be Deleted <br />between Wards land 2 <br /> <br />1otion defeated <br /> <br />Original Motion Repeated <br /> <br />Yes <br />No <br />Yes <br />No <br />No <br />Yes <br />No <br />4-3. <br /> <br />Councilmen Fauson and Ferrera felt this was <br />the same motion and it had already been voted <br />on. <br />Mayor Meier stated councilmembers would be <br />asked to vote on the motion. <br />Roll call vote: <br />Meier <br />Fauson <br />Leary <br />Ferrera <br />Cummings <br /> <br />Yes <br />No <br />Yes <br />No <br />No <br />
