1/18/83

Page -14-

to provide for additional expenditures
for Keith HelartPark, South Park, City
outlots and the proposed Hillsborough West
Park, which was prompted by several residents
living in the subdivision. A plan was developed
for the Hillsborough West proposed park, Hioco
: met with some of the residents to show
them the plan.
Director Hioco depicted on the map for Council
what the proposed plan entailed. Staff was
suggesting that phase 1 of the proposed park
be constructed in the amount of $57,816.05.
Hioco stated with the participation of the
residents doing the labor to install sod,
trees, etc. and the participation of Neodata
to do the earthwork, he felt it would be
possible to fund phase 1. Phase 1 included
mobilization - moving the equipment on the
property, earthwork, underground work which
included the irrigation system, sand, fence,
site furniture, landscaping, i.e. sod, trees,
shrubs, and equipment. Phase II to be
constructed in 1984, depending on available
funds would include the remaining improve-
ments of the park. Information was also
submitted on Keith Helart Park.

Councilwoman Morris

Commented her impression of the $4,230.00
figure by the residents was incorrect. It
may be the case including man hours, but
as far as actual donations it is incorrect.
Administrator Wurl advised that staff was
aware this figure was incorrect in actual
financial terms, but it would be amended.

Sue Forest, 869 W. Willow

A resident of the Hillsborough West sub-
division stated $1,781.00 had been collected
in donations and anticipated an additional
$40-$80. 101 families have signed to help
with the labor, amounting to approximately
183 people. They had contacted Alpine Lumber
Co. who are donating wood for 2 picnic tables.
Rick Ostrum, a contractor, living in the area,
will build two picnic tables. Judy Walker
another area resident will design two flower
boxes. Golden Sand and Gravel will donate
5 yards of sand with a 4" base for the
playground area. A jazzathon group will per-
form for a fee and money will be donated for
playground equipment. Around Arbor Day
