1/18/83 Page -6- Mayor Meier Referred to section 17.48.050 - Removal from Office.- inquired if a majority of councilmembers would not be required to remove a member of the Board of Adjustments, shouldn't majority be stated in this section. Rautenstraus advised this could only be done by action by the council, which of course would require a majority vote. VOTE TO PUBLISH ORDINANCE :/f779 AS AMENDED ORDINANCE :/f780 - ADOPTION OF THE 1982 BUILDING CODE Question called for. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. Councilmembers had a copy of the ordinance; Attorney Rautenstraus read the ordinance by title only on first reading, requested authorization for publication and suggested public hearing date of February 15, 1983. He also advised that copies of the Codes were available for councilmembers to review if they wished to do so, and the Building Inspector would be in attendance at the public hearing to respond to any concerns or questions. PUBLICATION AUTHORIZED PUBLIC HEARING 2/15/83 Councilman Fauson moved, Councilman Cussen seconded that Ordinance #780 - Adoption of the 1982 Uniform Building Code be published and the public hearing set for February 15, 1983. Councilman Leary Referred to section 15.04.070 - Plumbing Facilities - wished clarification "at the time of construction" whether this meant when the house was constructed or when someone wishes to put a bathroom on a base- ment floor. Director Rupp stated that he would have to review this further. Leary then inquired if someone wished to put a bathroom in the basement of their home would they be required to install a window? Rupp commented under the new codes this deals with the matter of heighth of the basement area. Even in an older home if the bathroom being installed in the base- ment met the heighth requirement a window would have to be installed.
