Councilman Ferrera Councilmen Leary Councilwoman Morris Mayor Meier dditions to Code by City Councilwoman Morris VOTE ON MOTION TO PUBLISH ORDINANCE #781 - ADOPTION 1982 UNIFORM MECHANICAL CODE 1/18/83 Page -7- Wished to confirm that this section was an additL)n to the Uniform Building Code 1982 Edition, by the City. Rautenstraus confirmed this. Requested a report be given on this specific section on final reading as he could forsee some problems, not with new homes, but for someone to have to excavate out to install a window in a bathroom in an older home may not be possible. Inqui~ed if there were other parts of the ordinance that were not parts of the Uniform Building Code, 1982 Edition, that the City added. Rautenstraus advised there were not other additions; there are some other additions in the Code that are still in existence. Were added previously to the Uniform Building Code and will continue to be additions. Stated as an explanation the Uniform Building Code was a universal one, not one that was initiated by the City. Rautenstraus advised the Code was universal but some of the additions had been made by the City. He further explained some sections of the Code contain situations which require local concern to be dealt with. The Code will state there are options or an area may not be covered. If a specific area needs to be covered then it is done so by an ordin- ance. The additions were suggested by the Chief Building Inspector, Steve Ferris, of areas of concern. Commented it was difficult for her, not having read the building codes, to approve any kind of amendments; therefore wished to have copies of the codes. Question called for to publish Ordinance 11780 - Adoption of 1982 Uniform Building Code. 6 Ayes .. 1 Nay. Councilwoman Morris dissenting. Motion carried. Councilmembers had a copy of the ordinance.
