Kathy <br />and Parks Project Manager Kathy Kron filed the grant application. City <br />Manager Fleming stressed the importance of training opportunities, which <br />in this respect the City received a grant. <br /> <br />· The City hall office remodels will be completed this week. It provides <br />more professional space for new staff members. <br /> <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION FOR ELK'S YOUTH WEEK <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk read the proclamation, which proclaimed May 1 -7,2009 as Elk's <br />Youth Week and presented it to Elk's Exalted Ruler Julie Allen. <br /> <br />Ms. Allen thanked Mayor Sisk and Council for recognizing the Elk's Club. She <br />introduced a new Eagle Scout from Troop 69, his Scout Leader and John Galvin, <br />the Past National District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler and State Governmental <br />Relations Chairperson. <br /> <br />JOHN BREAUX CLEAN-UP DAY <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Public Relations Manager Muth reported May 9th will be John Breaux Clean-Up <br />Day. The event will kick-off with a memorial pancake breakfast in Community <br />Park from 9:00 - 11 :00 AM, followed by clean-up activities around the City from <br />11 :00 AM - 1 :00 PM. Residents are invited to celebrate John Breaux's memory. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECTION/ACTION - BI MONTHLY ECONOMIC <br />DEVELOPMENT UPDATE <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Economic Development Director Star thanked the Mayor and Council for the <br />opportunity to work for the City of Louisville. She also thanked Becky Hogan for <br />her work in economic development for Louisville. <br /> <br />She reviewed the foundation elements of the economic programs in Louisville as <br />follows: The Business Assistance Program, a supportive volunteer committee <br />(BRaD), business retention activities, a community vision articulated in the <br />Comprehensive Plan and the City has exercised its Urban Renewal District <br />powers. <br />
