STATE HIGHWAY DEPT. ~ HIGH~ WAY RECOMMENDATIONS 1983 Mayor Meier APPROVAL RIDE ALONG PROGRAM - POLICE DEPT. Councilman Cussen 10/5/82 Page -18- Administrator vvurl advised as standard procedure each year the State Highway Dept. solicits from the counties and the cities their requests for state highway improvements. Each councilmember had been provided with a list of the City's recommendations. Wurl stated the improvements to the Superior Interchange would be deleted from the list, as it has gone for bids. He then referred to item #5 and advised that the State has found that a signal light is warranted at US 287 and SH 42; consequently this will be deleted also. Wurl then noted item #4 US 287 Lafayette bypass prerequi.site studies and acquire the right-of-way. The location would be between the two cities, which would comply with our City's comp plan. It was his under- standing from recent meetings being held by the State, County, DRCOG, and the City of Lafayette, the actual location of the bypass was going to be well within the Lafayette city limits; therefore Louisville will not be involved, inquired if Council wished to leave it on the list. It was staff's recom- mendation that Council adopt the priorities as submitted and they will be sent to Boulder County. Suggested that the item dealing with the Lafayette bypass be left on the list of recommendations until definite approval. Council generally agreed. Councilman Cussen moved, Mayor Meier seconded that the State Highway Recommendations for 1983 as submitted be approved. Question called for. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. Each councilmember had a copy of the proposal as requested by the Chief of Police. Stated that the program was a very good one, gives the public an opportunity to have a better under- standing bfthe-Ihlicel)ept. and creates a good relationship between the two. He commended Director Lessman and his department for the suggestion.
