Dennis Drumm 1536 Taft Court Louisville Chamber of Commerce l'1ayor Meier MOTION TO BECOME A MEMBER Councilman Fauson 5/4/82 Page ...10~ Mr, Drumm was present representing the Chamber of Commerce, Mayor and council- members had a copy of his letter and survey that had been done on various City memberships and dues to Chambers of Commerce. Drumm stated members of the Chamber definitely felt the City of Louisville should bE~ a member of the Chamher and would automatically make the City a member regardless of any dues payment. In the meantime their organization was attempting to implement programs and their budget for this year was $15,000. The Chamber maintains a full time office from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. five days a week and are in the process of developing printed material relative to the City. His request was that Council consider joining the Chamber of Commerce and what the Council feels is an appropriate amount of dues. Commented he personally supported the City becoming a member of the Chamber of Commerce as it would benefit both parties. He asked Council if they wished to become a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and for discussion on the amount of dues, if any, they wished to pay. Mayor Meier moved that the City of Louisville become a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Seconded by Councilman Cummings. Commented as a member of the Louisville Chamber of Commerce, would he be in conflict if he voted on this issue? Attorney Rautenstraus inquired if Councilman Fauson was a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber, or did he receive any com- pensation? Fauson answered no to both questions. Rautenstraus was of the opinion that Fauson could vote on whether the City should become a member, but perhaps not appropriate to vote on the amount of dues to be paid, if that becomes a matter to be determined by Council.
