He <br />felt it ~ras wrong. Other rates were being <br />increased with justification, and would vote <br />against the ordinance. <br /> <br />Councilman Fauson <br /> <br />Commented he wished to speak to Councilman <br />Leary's statement that Council would be <br />raising their salaries. He felt the ordinance <br />would not increase the present Council's <br />salary but that of the oncoming Council. <br /> <br />Responded he was aware of this, but still <br />felt unl€~ss the financial condition improves <br />Council should wait until September of the <br />year before the next election, if affordable <br />at that time, Council can do it. <br /> <br />Councilman Leary <br /> <br />Mayor Meier <br /> <br />Commented the only reason he asked this <br />ordinance be prepared, not to see that the <br />next Council received a salary increase, <br />but to r€~mind members that this was a <br />typographical error in an ordinance. The <br />last time it was prepared and present <br />councilmembers were supposed to be receiving <br />this increase when they assumed office. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL VOTE <br />MOTION DEFEATED TO PUBLISH <br />ORDINANCE #758 <br /> <br />Roll Call Vote: <br />YES: Fauson, Morris <br />NO: Leary, Ferrera, Meier, Cussen, <br />Cummings <br />Motion defeated 5-2. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE #759 - WATER AND <br />WASTEWATER TAP FEES <br /> <br />Mayor and Councilmembers had a copy of the <br />ordinance before them. <br />Attorney Rautenstraus read the ordinance by <br />title only on first reading and the request <br />was for publication. <br /> <br />Commented the last time a tap fee increase <br />ordinance was presented, it contained an <br />emergency clause, would it be wise to do this? <br />Rautenstraus replied it is not normally done <br />unless it .is necessary. <br /> <br />Mayor Meier <br />
