2/16/82

Page -10-

Mayor Meier and Leesman will get together
and set a datle when all parties can be
present for a study session.

Councilman Cussen

Wanted to knmv the status of the letter
he requested be written to the Village
Square owner in regard to proper signs.
He also expressed concern relating to
the lighting in the area, stating 3 of
the lights at the main entrance have been
out since before Christmas. In his opinion
the center was deteriorating in appearance.

Councilwoman Morris

Stated she felt the council members that
had not received or reviewed the additional
information OIl N.C.A.R. Jaws Project should
have copies on the portion regarding the
type planes that would be used, etc.

Hs. Gwenne Johnson, of Buena Vista had
called Councilwoman Morris and inquired
if council could organize some kind of
community effort to either provide smoke de-
tectors at no cost or at a lower cost than
regular retail to_people who__dQ not have
them.
Administrator Wurl advised that it was his
thought the city could be supportive of
such a program. He felt there would be
several Lproblems if the city purchased them
to sell - in the event of malfunctions, if one
brand over another was picked there might be
legal ramifications. He suggested the
Fire Dept. and our building department could
advise of the benefits of the smoke detectors
but an organization such as the Legion, Elks,
etc. should handle the actual sale of the item.

Mayor Meier

Reported that he had been contacted by a
member of the Jaycees asking about a project
they could help fund in the city. Perhaps
this organization could be contacted on
this project.
