Mayor Meier

Councilman Cummings

VIRGINIA CARANCI, CHAIRPERSON
OF THE HISTORICAL COMMISSION

Mayor Meier

Councilman Leary

LDC PRESIDENT, KIRK BADGER

2/16/82

Page -7-

to submit their letters of what they intend
to do with the money. It would also pro-
vide council members more time to review
these.

Concurred with Administrator Wurl's recom-
mendation and suggested members of council
also review some of the priorities of the
city before making a decision.

Remarked he was in a quandry about the money
and it's distribution - was it strictly non-
budgetary?
Wurl advised this was up to the discretion
of council.

I1rs. Caranci stated most of the information
was contained in the letter submitted to
council; but added the Community Building
has touched the hearts of everyone in
Louisville from 1890 until the present.
Their commission wa-Si_ unable to get state
or federal funding to restore the building
because it is attached to the pool. The
bricks on the building are deteriorating
rapidly. If something isn't done soon
the entire building will have to be rebricked
and the cost would be prohibitive.

Suggested the members contact other Histori-
cal Commissions to see if there is some way
to seal or preserve the brick.
Mrs. Caranci a.greed to do this.

Advised the new RTD building also had sand-
blasted brick, but had a heavy glaze on it.
He suggested M~s. Caranci contact them also.

Stated he was representing the LDC Committee
and inquired if this was to be an informational
session or would the presentation have to be
given again after a cut-off date had been
established for other organizations to get
their letters in.
