Economic Vitality Committee
Meeting Minutes
May 20, 2022
Page 2of4
Public Comment from Rick Kron: Mr. Kron recommended that Downtown
Colorado, Inc. might be a good contact for securing a speaker. He reiterated
Councilmember Fahey's concern that it is difficult to draw larger businesses to
events like this.
Public Comment from Chris Leh: Councilmember Leh commented that the
Redtail Ridge election may have been on everyone's mind. He continued that
there may be an opportunity for a general announcement at the beginning of
the event regarding larger issues.
Councilmember Dickinson closed his comments by confirming that there is
interest in hosting an event in October. Director Pierce commented that the
forum was not necessarily intended to align with the strategic plan, but that Staff
will explore this possibility. Councilmember Dickinson commented that this
event could be an opportunity for the business community to provide direct
feedback on the strategic plan. Director Pierce responded that if that is a
desired outcome of the forum, then the format may need to change, such as
having a panel instead of a speaker. Director Pierce confirmed that Staff has
enough feedback to move forward with planning an event in October.
Councilmember Most commented that it's important for the EVC to introduce
themselves and their purpose at events like this and that the purpose of these
events should be clearly indicated.
Public Comment from Chris Leh: Councilmember Leh questioned how to get
feedback from the business community without members of the business
community being included on EVC and wondered if an event like this could be
used for that purpose.
VII. Discussion/Direction- Strategic Plan Action #2-3: Business Satisfaction
Survey Update: Director Pierce presented a brief overview of Business
Satisfaction Survey efforts and responses received so far. She confirmed that
the survey will likely remain open another week and that there should be a draft
of results available for the June meeting.
Chair Dickinson commented that it is a significant number of responses and that
he is hopeful that there will be good information gathered. He also continued
that receiving a response to comments would help members of the business
community to feel involved. Director Pierce commented that it may not be
possible to respond to all comments but that all survey responses will be posted
online.
Councilmember Fahey asked whether these results could be included in the
Business Forum. Director Pierce confirmed that could be an option.
Agenda Packet P. 4
