City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 26, 2022 <br />Page 3 of 5 <br />John Cowley, 303 Fairfield Lane, also urged Council to move forward with the project. <br />He would also like to see this process expanded to local businesses. He would like to <br />see a progress report on how far the City has come since the 2019 commitment. He <br />suggested the City create their own solar farms so that space in other farms is available <br />for residents to purchase. <br />Councilmember Most would like the see the City expand its solar generation on City <br />properties. <br />Mayor Pro Tern Maloney stated it is important the City has a road map to follow so we <br />know what the challenges are can find a way to get there. The deliverables from the <br />report are important and a way for the City to know what options we have and when it <br />makes sense to do these things. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Maloney asked if there was money in the budget for this. Acting City <br />Manager Davis stated it was not in the budget this year so it will require a budget <br />amendment which is estimated to be about $100,000. <br />Councilmember Fahey stated she supports this project for many reasons including <br />better air quality and reducing ambient noise. She encouraged building solar and wind <br />facilities on City properties. <br />Councilmember Leh stated he would like to see the report give us options on what to do <br />at different facilities. <br />Councilmember Brown also supports the RFP and stated it is a great initiative that our <br />residents support. <br />Mayor Stolzmann stated this is a critical step to determine what we need to implement. <br />She underscored the point that we need full information on how we can reach our goals <br />and we need options and we have multiple ways to get where we want to go. This is just <br />one piece of the puzzle of our sustainability plan. <br />Councilmember Most stated this is a great way to show our residents there are ways to <br />do this work and we can be a leader. <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br />Pending Litigation, consultation with an attorney representing the City with <br />respect to pending litigation.
