5/5/81 Page - 6 - TABLE THE ORDINANCE REQUEST BY LBA Department of Employment has changed their regulations concerning payments, and re- quested Council strike the last sentence to comply with those regulations. Administrator Wurl advised Council the Louisville Businessmen's Association re- quested this ordinance be tabled until two aspects are discussed at their meeting. They wish to discuss the Business License increase and the Telephone Tax increase. AMENDMENT BY COUNCILMAN MEIER SECTION 6.16.020 GRASSHOPPER CONTROL Drafted an amendment - "Keeping of Certain Animals Prohibited." and omitted the word fowl from this section as well as added a sub-section which would allow residents to keep a maximum of two fowl conunencing May 1st and ending September 30th of each year for the purpose of pest control, i.e. grasshoppers, as an alternative to chemical pest control. Director Hioco connnented he had received calls from residents wishing to use geese, turkeys, and ducks to control grasshoppers. The previous ordinance stated ducks were permitted, but no other fowl. It was his opinion this was a good method of controlling grasshoppers. Attorney Joss agreed with the suggestion of having turkeys, geese and ducks to control grasshoppers and then stated he was reluctant on the time frame of May thru September as it might create an en- forcement problem. After further discussion Mayor Caranci took a straw vote of the council favoring the amendment. 3 members favoring. Attorney Joss to reword this portion of the ordinance for next council meeting - May 19, 1981. Councilman Meier Councilman Heier moved that Ordinance 41718 Up-dating Louisville Hunicipal Code Titles 1 - 9 be tabled. Seconded by.CouncilmanIUnenico. Question called for. All in favor. Hotion carried 5-0. Inquired if the amendments to the Ordinance 41718 would have to be republished. Attorney Joss advised those sections amended would have to be republished. ORDINANCK4F7l3 TABLED
