<br />5/5/81 <br /> <br />Page - 6 - <br /> <br />TABLE THE ORDINANCE <br />REQUEST BY LBA <br /> <br />Department of Employment has changed their <br />regulations concerning payments, and re- <br />quested Council strike the last sentence <br />to comply with those regulations. <br /> <br />Administrator Wurl advised Council the <br />Louisville Businessmen's Association re- <br />quested this ordinance be tabled until <br />two aspects are discussed at their meeting. <br />They wish to discuss the Business License <br />increase and the Telephone Tax increase. <br /> <br />AMENDMENT BY COUNCILMAN <br />MEIER SECTION 6.16.020 <br />GRASSHOPPER CONTROL <br /> <br />Drafted an amendment - "Keeping of Certain <br />Animals Prohibited." and omitted the word <br />fowl from this section as well as added <br />a sub-section which would allow residents <br />to keep a maximum of two fowl conunencing <br />May 1st and ending September 30th of each <br />year for the purpose of pest control, i.e. <br />grasshoppers, as an alternative to chemical <br />pest control. <br />Director Hioco connnented he had received <br />calls from residents wishing to use geese, <br />turkeys, and ducks to control grasshoppers. <br />The previous ordinance stated ducks were <br />permitted, but no other fowl. It was his <br />opinion this was a good method of controlling <br />grasshoppers. <br />Attorney Joss agreed with the suggestion <br />of having turkeys, geese and ducks to <br />control grasshoppers and then stated he <br />was reluctant on the time frame of May <br />thru September as it might create an en- <br />forcement problem. <br />After further discussion Mayor Caranci <br />took a straw vote of the council favoring <br />the amendment. 3 members favoring. <br />Attorney Joss to reword this portion of <br />the ordinance for next council meeting - <br />May 19, 1981. <br /> <br />Councilman Meier <br /> <br />Councilman Heier moved that Ordinance 41718 <br />Up-dating Louisville Hunicipal Code Titles <br />1 - 9 be tabled. Seconded by.CouncilmanIUnenico. <br />Question called for. All in favor. Hotion <br />carried 5-0. <br />Inquired if the amendments to the Ordinance <br />41718 would have to be republished. <br />Attorney Joss advised those sections amended <br />would have to be republished. <br /> <br />ORDINANCK4F7l3 TABLED <br />
