Lafayette's city council <br />had authorized this payment at their <br />last meeting and Broomfield would <br />be asked for the same amount at their <br />next meeting. They were asking for <br />a vote from our city council authoriz- <br />ing the preparation of a contract <br />betwreen the County Commissioners <br />and Lafayette, Louisville and Broomfield. <br />The temporary office will include <br />a full county clerk's office, i. e. <br />vehicle registration, marriage licenses, <br />and elections - social services, i.e. <br />take applications for all assistance <br />payment programs; part-time office <br />for the sheriff's dept., also youth <br />employment programs and veteran service, <br />as well a.s emergency family assistance, <br />and menta.l health center. There were <br />no plans for 1982 at this time. <br /> <br />nouncilman Meier <br /> <br />Inquired why the proposal was not done <br />proportionally according to population? <br />Mr. Higgins replied this was a quick <br />way of getting the program rolling <br />without getting into population percentages. <br />County Clerk Houston advised that there <br />were additional county costs that <br />were not reflected on the copy council <br />had, and were budgeted in other depart- <br />ments - also would be staffed by the <br />county. <br /> <br />Councilman Carnival <br /> <br />Inquired about the 6.1 acre site - <br />exact location. <br />Mr. Higgins advised a long narrow <br />piece of land adjacent to Christopher <br />Village that bordered the RR tracks. <br /> <br />Asked if Mr. Higgins had any idea how <br />many people would use these services? <br />He advised he didn't - however everyone <br />in the county uses the clerk's office. <br />He also advised it would save energy <br />use of automobiles. His estimate was <br />possibly 10% to 20% would be using the <br />facility from the tri-city population. <br /> <br />Councilman Cummings <br />
