3/19/81 Page - 4 - The suggested amount was $2,589 per city. Lafayette's city council had authorized this payment at their last meeting and Broomfield would be asked for the same amount at their next meeting. They were asking for a vote from our city council authoriz- ing the preparation of a contract betwreen the County Commissioners and Lafayette, Louisville and Broomfield. The temporary office will include a full county clerk's office, i. e. vehicle registration, marriage licenses, and elections - social services, i.e. take applications for all assistance payment programs; part-time office for the sheriff's dept., also youth employment programs and veteran service, as well a.s emergency family assistance, and menta.l health center. There were no plans for 1982 at this time. nouncilman Meier Inquired why the proposal was not done proportionally according to population? Mr. Higgins replied this was a quick way of getting the program rolling without getting into population percentages. County Clerk Houston advised that there were additional county costs that were not reflected on the copy council had, and were budgeted in other depart- ments - also would be staffed by the county. Councilman Carnival Inquired about the 6.1 acre site - exact location. Mr. Higgins advised a long narrow piece of land adjacent to Christopher Village that bordered the RR tracks. Asked if Mr. Higgins had any idea how many people would use these services? He advised he didn't - however everyone in the county uses the clerk's office.
