Switzer <br /> <br />KATHY BICKEL <br /> <br />ROB GIBSON <br /> <br />MIKE ROOT <br /> <br />Minutes - page 3 <br />September 18, 1980 <br /> <br />Mr. Marcotte noted that the organization <br />was family oriented with youth activities, <br />and stated that it is a nonprofit organ- <br />ization. <br /> <br />Mr. Marvin Sparn, architect for the Pow <br />Wow plans prE~sented Council with the <br />proposed building site and buildings to <br />be included. <br />Mr. Sparn reviewed the parking and traffic <br />plans along vl7ith the lighting and sound. <br />He noted that the contestant parking would <br />be hard surfaced and that the remaining <br />parking area would be in a natural state. <br />e noted that the second phase would include <br />the indoor arena. <br /> <br />Mr. Stan Johnson, rodeo chairman for the <br />Pow Wow, spoke in favor the request. <br />He noted that he would answer any questions <br />regarding the special use permit which <br />was agreed upon by the Pow Wow and for <br />consideration by Council. <br /> <br />Mr. Switzer stated that he has been involved <br />with the Pow Wow for many years and recom- <br />mended to Council that they approve the <br />request. <br /> <br />Mr. , supported the Pow Wow <br />request and asked that Council give it <br />favorable consideration. <br />He noted that the dust factor with the <br />crowds is less then he has seen with the <br />football cro~rds leaving the facility. <br /> <br />Ms. Bickel, External Vice Pres. for the <br />Boulder County lbrseman Assoc. gave her <br />support for the Pow Wow request. <br /> <br />Mr. Rob Gibson, stated that he supported <br />the Pow Wows request and asked for Council's <br />support. <br /> <br />Mr. Mike Root, stated that he has worked <br />on the parade: committee for the Pow Wow <br />and noted that problems with the Pow <br />_ Wow participants are minimal. <br />He read a letter from Capt. Michael Calahan <br />of the Boulder Sheriffs department and it <br />states that they will be willing to work <br />for security services during the activities <br />at the fairgrounds. <br />
