RESOLUTION NO. 29 CONTINUED MARVIN SPARN PRESENTATION STAN JOHNSON L. M. Switzer KATHY BICKEL ROB GIBSON MIKE ROOT Minutes - page 3 September 18, 1980 Mr. Marcotte noted that the organization was family oriented with youth activities, and stated that it is a nonprofit organ- ization. Mr. Marvin Sparn, architect for the Pow Wow plans prE~sented Council with the proposed building site and buildings to be included. Mr. Sparn reviewed the parking and traffic plans along vl7ith the lighting and sound. He noted that the contestant parking would be hard surfaced and that the remaining parking area would be in a natural state. e noted that the second phase would include the indoor arena. Mr. Stan Johnson, rodeo chairman for the Pow Wow, spoke in favor the request. He noted that he would answer any questions regarding the special use permit which was agreed upon by the Pow Wow and for consideration by Council. Mr. Switzer stated that he has been involved with the Pow Wow for many years and recom- mended to Council that they approve the request. Mr. , supported the Pow Wow request and asked that Council give it favorable consideration. He noted that the dust factor with the crowds is less then he has seen with the football cro~rds leaving the facility. Ms. Bickel, External Vice Pres. for the Boulder County lbrseman Assoc. gave her support for the Pow Wow request. Mr. Rob Gibson, stated that he supported the Pow Wows request and asked for Council's support. Mr. Mike Root, stated that he has worked on the parade: committee for the Pow Wow and noted that problems with the Pow _ Wow participants are minimal. He read a letter from Capt. Michael Calahan of the Boulder Sheriffs department and it states that they will be willing to work for security services during the activities at the fairgrounds.
