She added that for those residents who have already paid their use tax, a refund will be issued. Public Comments Tawnya Samauroo, resident, urged Council to approve the ordinance. She would like to see rebates such as this extended by all taxing entities for all disasters in the state. Wanda, resident, stated her concern that she might be taxed on the credit. Councilmember Brown asked if the City would be sending 1099s for this credit. Ritchie stated the City would not be sending 1099s but all people should determine their own tax implications. Mayor Pro Tem Maloney noted this program will be done as a credit not a taxable rebate. Councilmember Dickinson stated he would like the community as a whole to consider a future disaster recovery tax or program to determine how to share the burden of recovery equitably. Councilmember Fahey thanked staff for this program as a way to help those rebuilding. Brown did as well. Public Comments - None Mayor Pro Tem Maloney closed the public hearing Mayor Pro Tem Maloney stated this is the good solution to the issue. It has taken longer than we had hoped but this is a good outcome. Councilmember Leh noted the strong fiscal position of the City before the fire allows the City to do this now. He noted it took a long time to get here and thanked everyone for being patient. MOTION: Councilmember Leh moves to approve the ordinance; seconded by Councilmember Brown.
