LCityof <br />Louisville <br />City Manager's Office <br />Memorandum <br />To: Louisville Sustainability Advisory Board <br />From: Kayla Betzold, Sustainability Coordinator <br />Date: April 19, 2023 <br />Re: Staff Updates <br />Internal Decarbonization Plan <br />• The McKinstry/City of Louisville team presented preliminary results to City Council on April 4. <br />After technological and financial analysis, McKinstry recommended partial electrification by <br />2030 to avoid replacing newer equipment before end of useful life. There was general support <br />from Council for this approach. More information can be found in the April 4 Council packet. <br />• The team is finalizing the building audit reports for cohort 1 buildings — Recreation & Senior <br />Center, Public Library and Police Services. <br />• The team will be presenting the final roadmap to City Council on July 11. <br />Dark Sky Lighting <br />• The Sustainability division is working with Economic Vitality and Planning to develop a dark sky <br />lighting ordinance, which is scheduled for Planning Commission on May 11 and City Council in <br />June. <br />• Visit https://www.engagelouisvilleco.org/darksky to learn more about the project. <br />Resource Central Programs <br />• The Lawn Replacement Program and Garden in a Box program are sold out for the year. <br />• Free, online Waterwise Yard Seminars will be hosted by Resource Central and partner <br />organizations throughout 2023 to educate residents about low-water landscaping. The City of Louisville seminar will be held on <br />Monday, July 10 from 6:00 — 8:00 p.m. and will be titled Firewise Landscaping: Methods and <br />Design <br />1 <br />
