In 1951, Herman transferred ownership of Lots 6, 7, and 8 to
his son Herbert and Herbert's wife Rose, and the original house at 705 McKinley was
then constructed.
Records indicate that the house was rented out for a time. The 1953 directory for
Louisville shows the Arthur and Lucille Henander family to be living at 701 McKinley.
Also, according to the Sept. 14, 1955 and Sept. 14, 1956 Louisville Times, Russell Knodel
and his family moved into the house in 1955. Knodel had moved to Louisville to be the
principal of Louisville High School. Next, Herman Steinbaugh's son James "Jimmie" and
his wife Dolores began to live in the house starting in 1956. Jimmie was employed at the
family business, Steinbaugh Lumber Co. In 1958, Herman Steinbaugh transferred
ownership of 701 McKinley to Jimmie and Dolores.
The following images show the photo of the house from the 1977 County Assessor card
and a ground layout sketch of the house at that time, during the ownership by James
and Dolores Steinbaugh:
3
