PLANNING COMMISSION APPOINTMENT SEWER TREATMENT PLANT ADDITION BID AWARD Minutes - page 3 July 19, 1977 All action on this matter was tabled until August 2, 1977. Mr. Noel Hobbs stated that five bids were received tirith the apparent low bidder being Kenneth Dukes Construction Co. at $263,820.52. Mr. Hobbs stated that letters of reference had been obtained and also a financial report. In reading the letters to council Mr. Hobbs felt that all remarks on their work were favorable, and it was Rocky Moun- tain Consultants recommendation that the bid be awarded to Kenneth Dukes Construction Co. Mr. Hobbs stated that the bids were over the proposed cost of $233,000 in the budget; however, there are some items that could be deleted. He also stated that a state grant in the amount of $33,888 has been applied for which would off set the amount of the bid which is over budget. If the grant is denied there would be certain items that are not absolutely essential for the success- ful operation of the wastewater treatment plant. Councilman DelPizzo stated his concern with the under estimating of the jobs by con- sultants. He requested that in the future the estimates be alittle larger so that when the bids come through the City will not be faced with having to cut from the planned improvements to bring the bids down to the budgeted figures. It was noted that there are plans for a small lab. Councilman DelPizzo requested that a hot water heater be included so the water will be warm in the winter to wash out utensils and for basic clean up. After discussion Councilman DiCarlo moved that Council award to Kenneth Dukes Con- struction Co. the contract for the addition to the Louisville wastewater treatment plant in the amount of $263,820.52 with the condition that if the grant is not received, the City starts a process of deletions until the bid is equivalent to the amount of the budgeted figure. Seconded by Councilman Di Lorenzo. Roll call. Caranci yes, DiCarlo yes, DelPizzo yes, Domenico yes, DiLorenzo yes. Motion carried. It was noted that the engineering fees are outside of the construction cost.
