One hundred eight trees were lost on city property due to the Marshall <br />Fire. The last 30 damaged trees are being removed along Dillon Road <br />and St Andrews Street, at the Enclave entrance, Washington/McCaslin <br />intersections, and Arboretum. <br />Louisville Parks Department has received a Regional Air Quality grant <br />(RAQ) which will be applied to purchase of 30 pieces of battery - <br />operated equipment, including backpack blowers, trimers, and mowers. <br />Open space will probably receive some of this money as well. <br />The Police and McCaslin/Via Apia Cornerstone areas are to be replanted <br />to the specifications of Staff, existing plants will be repurposed. <br />Weeds are headed to compost! <br />Louisville has a new Street Horticulture supervisor, Bryce Linn, who will <br />be introduced to PPLAB when he has had a chance to settle in. <br />Seventy-two residential development entryways are under <br />consideration for future renovation. This project still needs planning and <br />determination of entryway status, probably a 3-year project. <br />Parks and Public Landscaping Department will be handling hanging <br />planters along Main Street. We are planning to shift to more perennials <br />and more sustainable plantings, but will still have some annuals. <br />Planting of the City Hall Pollinator Garden is on hold for sculpture <br />installation. <br />Parks is managing mowing as best as we can with all of the wet weather <br />we have been having. Last week was the first week that we were able to <br />get all the way through mowing; a contractor was behind schedule, so <br />Parks staff realigned them. <br />Parks is trying organic, poultry -based fertilizer at Memory Square Park, <br />but it will take time to see the results. <br />A Memorial Tree program is in place, requiring an application process. <br />The applicant funds tree purchase and planting.
