IV. EMPLOYEE RESPONSES VITAL STATISTICS A total sample of 83 questionnaires were returned out of a potential 90. The first question asked for the residence, the age, the sex, and the number of dependents of each employee. Twenty- nine percent of the sample live in Louisville, with the greatest number of aggregate of residence in "other" communities, including Northglenn, Westminster, Longmont, Boulder, Thornton, Golden, and Denver. Lafayette claims about 14 percent of the residents, and Boulder and Broomfield each about one -tenth of the residents. Slightly more than 6 percent live in unspecified unincorporated county areas. The sample is two-thirds female, one-third male. The median age of the sample is 35.9. Slightly more than half of the respondents report dependents, with an average of 5.5 for those who have them, or an average of 3.0 dependents for all employees in the sample. Twenty-seven percent of the employees report less than $20,000 household income per year, while thirty percent show annual household income in excess of $40,000, leaving about 40 percent of the incomes in the middle ranges. These figures indicate household income, while the employers reported only wages paid, hence the exact figures differ somewhat, but the overall picture is the same. 9
