<br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 25, 2009 <br />Page 3 of 12 <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk reported on receiving a call from the White House requesting he <br />participate in a conference on energy efficiency. He was one of four or five <br />Colorado Mayors invited to participate. He stated it was a great opportunity to <br />participate in the discussions. <br /> <br />Councilor Sackett thanked City Manager Fleming and the City Staff for the <br />upgrades to the Recreation Center. He was pleased that citizens made <br />recommendations on Memory Square. He congratulated Mayor Sisk on being <br />selected to participate in a conference on energy efficiency. <br /> <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br /> <br />LIFE IN LOUISVILLE PHOTO CONTEST AWARDS - PRESENTATION OF <br />AWARDS <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Public Relations Manager Muth explained the City received a total of 160 entries <br />from 26 contestants (amateur photographers) for the 2009 Life in Louisville photo <br />contest. The photo jury reviewed each photo and found them all to exemplify <br />what Life in Louisville is all about. All of the photos are available for viewing on <br />the City's web site. In the future these photos may be seen in City publications, <br />brochures and advertising. The jury reviewed the photos and found in each of <br />the winning photos something unique to Louisville and represented the history, <br />community and sense of place that makes Louisville a great place to live. <br /> <br />Councilor Yarnell presented certificates to the following winners: <br /> <br />Grand prize winner: Fine Arts on a Fine Evening, Peter Bandurian <br /> <br />Student: 1st place - Barbed Wire, Logan Wan <br /> <br />Joint Award - Remembering John <br />John at the Parade, Eliza Brennan <br />Rest in Peace 3, Peter Bandurian <br /> <br />Parks: 1st place - Memory Square Park, Betsy Kolber <br />2nd place - Coal Creek Golf Course, Manisha Pandit <br />3rd place - McKinely Park After School, Nicole Leonard <br /> <br />People - 1st place - Bubble Delight, Doug Grinbergs <br />2nd place - Water Play, Doug Grinbergs <br />3rd place - Future Louisville Firefighter, Nicole Leonard <br />
