<br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 25, 2009 <br />Page 9 of 12 <br /> <br />Deputy City Manager Balser confirmed there is matching fund opportunities for <br />the LRCAB through Boulder County. She explained the LCC currently receives <br />grants for their Concerts in the Park Series. Councilor Yarnell stated her <br />understanding all Concerts in the Park this year were fully funded by the City. <br /> <br />Councilor Muckle supported the Street Faire contribution because it generates <br />revenue for local businesses. <br /> <br />City Manager Fleming thanked City Council for their direction. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECTION - CONSORTIUM OF CITIES LEGISLATIVE <br />AGENDA <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Marsella explained the Consortium of Cities requested member <br />jurisdictions provide a list of their top 3 issues for inclusion on the legislative <br />agenda. The goal is to identify the area of common interest amongst the <br />members and ultimately build a consensus around a short list of issues that will <br />become the focus areas for the legislative agenda. She will provide the 3 <br />recommendations for inclusion in the legislative agenda. She outlined the <br />potential issues for consideration as follows: <br /> <br />· Legislation authorizing local governments to use municipal web sites for <br />official government notices rather than print media <br />· Support additional transit/transportation funding <br />. Maintain local home rule control <br />. Consider changes to the Colorado Urban Renewal Law <br />. Explore Statewide revenue sharing options <br />· Energy sustainability/conservation measures <br />. Support affordable housing <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilor Dalton recommended the City encourage the State to allow the <br />Federal Government to take the lead on taxing Internet purchases. <br /> <br />Councilor Clabots supported energy sustainability/conservation measures and <br />working with other counties on air and water quality. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk supported changes to the Colorado Urban Renewal law. He noted <br />currently there are conflicting views and referenced City of Boulder Council <br />member Wilson's email on urban renewal. <br />
