COLORADO GEOLOGICAL SURVEY

COUNCIL COMMENTS
MAIN ST. ZONING

CONSORTIUM REPORT

Mr. Deborski, Chief Coal Mining Inspector,
stated that he has worked underground
for thirty years and that in his ex-
perience as relates to caving and void
spaces alot depends on how much over
burden. Mr. Deborski stated that
he felt the land would be best used
having the heavy industrial buildings
placed on the land with the least pos-
siblity of subsidence and carry out the
deve-opment in this manner.
Mr. Wurl asked Mr. Rogers if he had
spoken to FHA or VA to discuss the
problem.
Mr. Wurl stated that he had spoke with
Mr. Rogers and Mr. Robinson and planned
on talking to FHA and VA representatives
to discuss the problem.
Councilman DelPizzo stated that he felt
the City should annex and if the state
objects they should come to the City
and inform them just how extensive they
require the tests for hazardous areas,
instead of stopping the project and just
keep delaying the matter by not giving
any firm answer to the questions that
have come up.

Councilman DelPizzo asked why Main St.
from South St. going north was changed
to just residential. He felt that the
people were not well informed on the
changes and it devalued their property.
It was stated that the change went
through the proper channels and was
published and if Councilman DelPizzo
would like to have it changed back he
would have to petition the property
owners and it would then have to go back
to planning commission and through the
proper channels just as before.

Councilwoman Dhieux reported on the Con-
sortium. She stated that discussion on
proposed legislation which could create a
Denver Metropolitan Area Water Authority
and also a review of legislative matters
and consideration by the Local Government
Committee which could effect local govern-
ments. She stated that the City should
get a copy of the review on the bill as
she felt this would give the County
Commissioners a greater amount of power
over incorporated areas

-7-
