WOOD BROTHER CHURCH SITE
PUBLIC HEARING cont'd

Mr. Wurl stated that he would like to get the
church site situation corrected. He stated that
there was disagreement between Wood Brothers and
the City in regards to the dedication of land
for a church site. Mr. Wurl stated that at the
time of annexation procedures a discussion was
held on the dedication of land for a church site.
Mr. Wurl stated that he understood Wood Brothers
to say that they would donate the church site,
however, a letter was written from Wood Brothers
stating that the land would be set aside either
until the land is platted or the one year limi-
tation is up. The land is now being platted.
Mr. Conarroe stated that he remembered when he was
on Planning Commission that Wood Brothers agreed
to a land donation for a church site.
Mr. Holly stated that on none of Wood Brothers
annexations have they ever donated land for a
church site. The land is held under certain
stipulations for sale to churches who may be
interested but the land is never donated. Mr.
Holly stated that a letter was sent from Wood
Brothers stating that the land would be reserved
but not donated.
It was stated that the agreement for the site was
not in the annexation ordinance because it was
discussed and penciled in on the plat during
the second reading of the annexation ordinances.
Therefore, there were no written records stating
that the site would be donated.
Mr. Wurl stated that he still felt strongly
that there was a verbal committment.
It was stated that the land which was reserved
for the church site is part of the tract being
platted for the new homes.
After discussion, Mr. Wurl ran through minutes
which pertained to the Wood Brothers development.
He then read the letter from Wood Brothers in
regards to the church site. Within the letter
it stated that Wood Brothers would make the land
for sale to any interested church at the current
price.
Mr. Holly stated that Wood Brothers would reserve
another church site for a specified length of time
in the amount of three acres in a different
location then was first discussed since the land
will now be platted for the patio homes. Mr.
Holly stated that it might be the City wish to
reserve three acres from the open space land for
a church site.
Mayor Waschak opened to discussion for a public
hearing.
Mr. Conarroe stated that he was in favor of
land being taken from the open space for a church
site.

-2-
