Historic Preservation Commission Meeting Minutes June 15, 2009 Page 3 of 8 Stewart stated that the grant can be re-applied for in 6 months. Muckle asked if we should hire someone to review the grant application to see why it might have been denied? Lewis agreed that the Commission should have someone review it so the grant request can be resurrected. Williams asked if anyone knew how often a grant can be reapplied for and when the next deadline is. Stewart answered that the next deadline is September 1st. Koertje stated that the alternative is to do this on our own without the SHF. Tofte stated that the survey's need to be redone because there are several mistakes. Tofte stated she would be interested in having an outside source assist with the grant application to ensure it is filled out properly. She also requested to see a copy of the grant application. Koertje stated he will make copies of the grant application available to the Commissioners. Muckle stated it would be good for the Commissioners to have copies of the survey. She also stated the social history's of each structure should be on the City's website. Lewis stated there should be a special website just for the HPC. Muckle stated the public should be seeing all that we are seeing. Muckle then inquired about the status of the GIS system. McCartney answered there is a GIS Coordinator on staff and development of GIS is moving forward. Muckle inquired if the Commission received a grant for the 2000 Survey. Tofte stated she thought there was a grant. Koertje redirected the discussion back to the fund. He stated that the acquisition element was a big deal but the Commission might not be ready for that element. Muckle wondered if the City could consider the old hospital (on Jefferson) as a potential acquisition.
