<br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />November 2, 2009 <br />Page 11 of 14 <br /> <br />Organics LLC would pay back the total amount of sales tax rebated by the <br />City. <br /> <br />Economic Development Director Star discussed this business assistance <br />package with Andrew and Kellly Williams, operators of the Louisville Farmers <br />Market. The two remaining conditions were drafted in response to the Williams' <br />concerns: <br /> <br />. Front Porch Organics will not use the term "farmers market" in its name or <br />marketing. <br />. Outside display of produce is limited to that area extending four feet <br />beyond the east face of the building. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested an Applicant presentation. <br /> <br />APPLICANT PRESENT A TIOIN <br /> <br />Allen Jones stated the two conditions: 1) not referring to his business as a <br />farmers market and 2) Iimitin~l the merchandise space would be a deal breaker <br />for him. He explained the site has potential for rolling up the garage doors and <br />wheeling merchandise out to the front. It will be a small grocery business and <br />events will not be an everyday occurrence. He did not want to be limited on his <br />merchandising and did not see his business as competition to the Farmers <br />Market but rather collaborative. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested public comment <br /> <br />Andrew Williams, 824 LaFargle Avenue, Louisville, CO supported a grocery store <br />in the downtown area and buying locally. He felt the conflict of this store would <br />be the displaying products in tents outside of the grocery store, or using the <br />terms farmers market in the stores name or marketing campaigns. <br /> <br />Mr. Jones offered to put up signs advertising the Saturday Farmers Market. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilor Dalton asked Mr. Jones if he proposes to call his store a Farmers <br />Market. Mr. Jones stated the name of the store is Front Porch Organic Market. <br /> <br />Councilor Dalton asked if tents would be put up in front of the store. Mr. Jones <br />stated tents would be set up on occasion for massage therapy, fresh produce or <br />a candy vendor. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Marsella supported an organic market in Louisville. She noted <br />the Main Street frontage of the property is ideal for setting up tents. She did not <br />
