Senior Advisory Board Meeting Minutes 1/21/10 Page 3 of 6 Larry asked if we could have a quarterly report on what we do with the money from Heat Relief. Connie said we got a report from Claudine and it should be in one of last year's packages. Kathy added that it is all documented. Carol mentioned that we spent a lot for volunteer appreciation one year. Rosalie said that in 2009 we gave out certificates of appreciation at the Ice Cream Social. Volunteer appreciation is important. We can discuss later how to go about it. Bob P moved and Carol seconded that the Audit and the proposed 2010 budget be approved. They were approved. Staff Reports - Katie Beasley and Kathy Martin. The Good Neighbors Report is part of the meeting package. Katie-we will do the Ice Cream Social as planned. Wer'e working on the newsletter. Rosalie asked if we have to state that it's going to be a volunteer appreciation event. Katie said a departmental brochure will be made. The Social is usually the third Thursday in July. Connie suggested that we state in the newsletter that there will be some form of volunteer appreciation. Kathy mentioned that yesterday (January 20, 2010) was Claudine's last day. She is leaving and her position is on hold. The other Senior Center staff are picking up various extra job duties. She asked the Board to let the staff know if they miss anything. Larry remarked that if there was anything Board members could do, the staff should let us know. Kathy said that people have been pretty receptive to the Platinum members introduction. We have collected $2,000. The goal is $10,000. Larry asked what would happen if people did not get their platinum membership. Rosale mentioned that only platinum members will be mailed the newsletter. Kathy said that platinum member stickers have been made. They are a silver cicrlce with the words 2010 platinum. The May Celebration will probably be in May 12 (usually on a Wednesday). May is Older Americans Month. The Heat Relief dinner is February 18. We are working with the Foundation on their part of it. There will be no entertainment, unless the Singin' Seniors want to perform. Connie agreed that the choir would perform. Election of Officers. Connie nominated Larry for Board Chair. Carol seconded. Approved. Rosalie nominated Carol for Vice-Chair. Connie seconded. Approved. Rosalie nominated Connie for Secretary. Carol seconded. Approved. Rosalie will continue as Treasurer. Focus Groups Appointment of leads. Bob P will continue with Housing. For Social and Civic, Larry and Kate will lead Programs.
