PAGE TWO <br />SUBJECT: UPDATE/DISCUSSION - BUILDING CODE BOARD OF APPEALS (BCBOA) <br />DATE: MAY 25, 2010 <br />2009 International Plumbing Code <br />2009 International Mechanical Code <br />2009 Fuel Gas Code <br />2008 National Electrical Code <br /> With the adoption of these codes the City of Louisville is on the leading edge of this code <br />adoption cycle both in the state of Colorado and nationally. This keeps us current with the latest <br />national standards and the most current technology. Adoption of the 2009 Energy Conservation <br />Code has specifically improved the City of Louisville’s energy efficiency by 32% over the 2003 <br />code which we were previously are enforcing. <br />II. CHANGE BY LAWS OF BUILDING CODE BOARD OF APPEALS TO REFLECT <br />ADVISORY FUNCTION <br />SUMMARY: <br />This item was put on hold as the City Administration is reviewing all bylaws for <br />compliance. The Building Code Board of Appeals has slated this for completion during 2010. <br />III. ADOPTION OF A GREEN BUILDING PROGRAM <br />SUMMARY: <br />This item has been put on hold for budgetary reasons. <br />WORK GOALS FOR 2010: <br />I. Update bylaws for Building Code Board of Appeals <br />II. Develop a Green Building Code <br />III. Adoption of Building Code Amendments <br />IV. Monitor Residential Fire Sprinkler Discussion in Colorado and Nationally <br />V.Create work plan for Conoco Phillips Development <br />I.Update bylaws for Building Code Board of Appeals <br />Objective: <br /> To rewrite bylaws to reflect the actual advisory function of the Board to the Building <br />Official <br />Summary: <br /> The Building Code Board of Appeals has historically served not only as the quasi <br />judicial authority for appeals but has also served as an advisory board the Building Safety <br />Division and the Chief Building Official. The bylaws need to properly reflect this function. <br />II.Develop a Green Building Program <br />Objective: <br />To find a funding source and to research and develop a green building program for the City of <br />Louisville. <br />Summary: <br /> The BCBOA and LRCAB with the specific help of Meredyth Muth have submitted a <br />grant application this week to help fund this item (see attachment). This continues to be an <br />ongoing project. The BCBOA has worked on this issue the last three years. Many hours have <br /> <br />
