Mohr
introduced the Children's Librarian, Carol
Purfurst.
RESOLUTION #41, SERIES 1989 - RECOGNITION
LAWRENCE RICKMAN Mayor Fauson read a resolution of recognition
and presented a watch to Lawrence Rickman
recognizing and honoring his many years of
employment with the City of Louisville.
Rickman is retiring this month.
PROCLAMATION - DRUG AND DRUNK DRIVING AWARENESS
WEEK Mayor Fauson proclaimed the week of December 10
thru 16 as Drug and,Drunk Driving Awareness
Week.
PRESENTATION - ARTS & HUMANITIES
COUNCIL Carolyn Markham, Chairman of the Arts &
Humanities Council, briefed Council on the
recent grants awarded to Louisville through the
state-wide funding. This was the first
distribution of funds by the County
Commissioners and totaled $3,750. $1,650 was
granted to place art in the Library, $1,400 was
granted to the Louisville Art Association for
their annual art show which takes place over
the Labor Day Weekend, and $700 to the Arts and
Humanities Council'for on-going funding. There
is also a guarantee that with the April funding
another $1,650 will be granted for additional
art in the Library and another $1,650 with the
September funding. An additional $1,400 will be
granted in April for the Louisville Art
Association for the Art Show (a total of
$2,800). The $3,750 granted from this first
funding amounts to approximately 5% of the
available funds -- the amount Louisville would
have received had the money been distributed by
appropriation.
