411 410 <br /> 12/7/82 Page -8- <br /> Mr. Tennessen further advised that he had <br /> hired a person who would training on the use <br /> of the equipment and would be happy if some- <br /> one from our City would take advantage of <br /> the classes. <br /> Mayor Meier Commented other cities have experienced <br /> Televising Council Meetings problems with Council meetingabeing filmed- <br /> the problem being that it has curtailed dis- <br /> cussions on the part of the councilmembers. <br /> He would not like to see this happen with <br /> our members . <br /> Tennessen advised this is usually the case <br /> with the first two or three meetings, then <br /> everyone seems more at ease and they go very <br /> well . <br /> Proposed Sale to Scripps-Howard Mayor Meier requested that council be pro- <br /> vided with information regarding the sale <br /> to Scripps-Howard before they are required <br /> to act on it. <br /> Tennessen agreed to do this . He informed <br /> Council they have had little experience in <br /> the Cable TV business . Longmont will be <br /> the first system to be built by them, and <br /> they have a tentative agreement with Lafayette <br /> to build their system. The Scripps-Howard <br /> Company will retain Mr. Tennessen and the <br /> Louisville employees ; also they have the <br /> financial resources to do a good job . <br /> Councilman Fauson Inquired of Mr. Tennessen if he had been <br /> Disaster Preparedness contacted by anyone from Disaster Preparedness , <br /> the Louisville Fire Protection District or the <br /> City for the possibility of using the Storer <br /> tower for an early warning system. <br /> Tennessen advised that they hadn 't , but they <br /> would be very happy to let them use it . <br /> Fauson commented he would like to set up a <br /> meeting with him and the other people involved. <br /> Tennessen further advised that there was a <br /> provision in the agreement for a warning system <br /> and it had been ordered. He explained a per- <br /> son would be given a telephone number and a <br /> 3 digit code and in the event of any kind of <br /> emergency, when the code is dialed, the message <br /> will go over all the channels on the entire <br /> TV system. <br /> Councilman Leary Inquired if a cost comparison could be given <br /> Cost Comparison of what Scripps-Howard is currently charging <br /> as compared to Storer. <br /> Tennessen advised the only thing he could <br />
