retail office, research park and • corporate use.
During this tilos both diella and Menkick worked
with the Town of Superior exclusively. !however,
one developer withdrew his plan when it was deter-
mined that Superior would not be in a position to
serve the needed water. Another developer made a
generous offer to the Town of Superior and was
turned down Siena and Mbiayilti then a Superior. After these efforts,
approached the City of
Louisville. Menkick feels that the inclusion of •
this land into the City of Louisville will still
directly benefit the Town of Superior in that a
waterline will be brought scram O.S. 34 almost up
to Superior's boundary at no cost to them. Also,
oannercial development tends to spawn other
development. Superior has other quality land for
their own commercial and residential development
considerations. Menkick stated that this
annexation will be of great benefit to the City of
Louisville by expanding greatly its tax hase.
Mayor tausoa asked for anyone wishing to speak in
opposition to the annexation request.
Jerry Mcilroy, 104 William Street, Superior,
stating that it is not true that the Town of
Superior turned their annexation proposal down.
Negotiations may have been stalled when the Town
asked that $iella/Menikick to wait until the
Superior water study could be ooipleted. Mcllroy
stated that it is his opinion that the Town of
Superior does not want to be saved from the City
of srooafield, but rather from the City of Louis-
ville. Milroy feels that this could have been a
win/win situation with a revenue sharing plan.
This annexation will negatively affect the Town of
Superior and 'a yes vote from the Council of
Louisville tonight will be by no weans the last
heard on this issue.'
Other residents from the Town of Superior asked
that the City of Louisville deny this request ap
it will promote noise, pollution and increase
crime due to oomatercial development.
Residents of the City of Louisville opposing the
annexation stated ooncerns over the crossing
of O.S. 34 aMaus it as • negative to the City of
Louisville. Some residents were not opposed to
the inclusion of the parcel of land on the north
side of the inter, but greatly opposed the
annexation of the on the south side stating
that other parcels are available for oommercial
growth without having to cross O.e. 34.
4
