• 05/19/87
ORDINANCE 9928 - SALARY STRUCTURE -
PUBLIC SEARING Rautenstraus read by title only Ordinance 9928,
"An Ordinance amending Title 2, Chapter 2.66 of
the Louisville Municipal Code concerning Grade
Classifications, and Salary Structures.* Proof of
publication and notice of public hearing were
established.
Mayor Fauson opened the public hearing.
lfrisko stated that the Department of Community
Services is requesting a restructure of the wage
scale for Seasonal Employees in order to reflect
the reality of operations. The swimming pool has
followed a format of starting youngsters as water
safety aides, progressing to basketrooa
attendant/cashier, then lifeguard, water safety
instructor, head lifeguard, head instructor, and
pool manager. In the opinion of pool staff, the
adopted scale placed the basketroo■
attendant/cashier at a such higher level than
appropriate and at the same time neither the posi-
tions of head lifeguard nor that of head water-
safety instructor are recognised in the adopts'
structure.
Staff is recommending that the basketroom
attendant/cashier position be lowered to a 62.50 -
$3.50 range. Also, the head water safety instruc-
tor, who is in charge of the pool management
during instructional periods, is paid at the sane
rate as the pool manager. Staff recommends con-
tinuing this practice. A similar situation exists
for the head swim coach and staff recommends the
SUM wage structure. With regard to the baseball
program, staff requests a Field Manager/Score-
keeper position at a rate of $6/game, rather tham
$6/hour as has been paid in the past. This can
lower expenditures in the event of poor weather.
Eundley emphasised the fact that the only changes
to the City's salary structure are for seasonal
employees as described by Brisko.
Mayor Fauson asked for anyone wishing to speak
either in favor of or in opposition to Ordinance
1928. None.
Mayor Fauson closed the public hearing and called
for a motion.
Ssymanski moved that Ordinance 192$ be adopted.
Mayor Fauson seconded. By Roll Call Vote,
Ordinance 9926 was adopted 5-0 with Carnival
abstaining.
2
