ORDINANCE 9936 - AMEND CHAPTER 2.36 - WRITE-IN CANDIDATES - <br /> PUBLIC HEARING This item was formally pulled from the Agenda, but <br /> Mayor Fauson asked Ferris to explained way it will <br /> not be considered. <br /> Ferris explained that initially it was understood <br /> that recent legislation that was passed regarding <br /> write-in candidates would affect municipal elections <br /> and procedures. However, the Secretary of State's <br /> department contacted Ferris and explained that this <br /> particular law would have no effect on the municipal <br /> elections and that the current Ordinance was <br /> correct. Therefor*, Ferris asked that the Ordinance <br /> be withdrawn. <br /> AUTHORIZATION TO SET PUBLIC HEARING FOR 1988 BUDGET <br /> ADOPTION Asti-Caranci explained that Colorado State Statutes <br /> require City Council to publish a notice containing <br /> the following information upon receipt of the <br /> proposed 1988 Budget: 1) the proposed budget is <br /> open for inspections 2) the place where the proposed <br /> budget may be examined; 3) the date the proposed <br /> budget will be considered for adoption; 4) any <br /> interested taxpayer may express his/her objections <br /> any time prior to final adoption of the budget. It <br /> is Asti-Caranci's recommendation that Council <br /> publish notice as to the proposed budget and set a <br /> public hearing for budget adoption on October 6, <br /> 1987. <br /> Hundley reminded Council that a final budget work <br /> session is scheduled for September 24th. <br /> mayor Fauson moved that staff publish notice as to <br /> the proposed budget and set a public bearing for <br /> budget adoption on October 6, 1987. Mohr seconded. <br /> Unanimous. <br /> COAL CREEK PARENTING CENTER <br /> REQUEST Hundley stated that Lis Black, secretary for Coal <br /> Creek Community Parenting Center, was present to <br /> expand on the recent request by the Center for a <br /> $750 contribution from the Louisville City Council <br /> to support the activities of the Center. <br /> Ms. Black explained the function of the Coal Creek <br /> Community Parenting Center where families can <br /> develop a support network during child rearing years <br /> and help prevent crises due to emotional stress and <br /> feelings of isolation common in a mobile society. <br /> The Parenting Center is part of a non-profit <br /> Parenting Project Corporation designed as a <br /> preventative approach to reduce child abuse and <br /> serves Louisville, Lafayette and Broomfield. Money <br /> acquired through grants will be used to increase <br /> 4 <br />
