..' ,
are submitted first to the City Council,
then the City Council has two options.
It may either pefer to refer this to
Planning Commission or it may choose not
to refer that request.
Hornbostel: I do have a lot of concerns and I do
have great concerns because when we
bring something in that we know exactly
what we are bringing in. I have a real
problem with someone coming in and
saying we want to annex, trust us.
There are a lot of people tonight that
have the same problem. I really feel
that as far as annexing and waiting and
not having the option on what the zoning
is, is no option. There are a lot of
concerns about this plan that I think we
have not even been able to touch the
iceberg. I think that there are a lot
of people here tonight that didn't know
the Comp Plan changed. I think there
needs to be a reevaluation of the Comp
Plan for this. The other major thing
that I have a problem with is all the
cars that will be backed up at the stop
light on the hill. I have received
numerous phone calls and letters. r
have tried to get a lot of information
on how people feel about this. I firmly
believe that we should deny this
annexation.
Carnival: As most of you know I have been on the
Council for about 5 1/2 years and
through that process have been very
supportive of commercial/economic
development in this community and will
continue to be. I have heard this
evening that the Comp Plan does specify
this as a residential, commercial area
for development and that was recognized
in 1989. Lots of things have changed.
As things change, Comp Plans change. r
agree with Councilwoman Hornbostel, that
maybe it's time once again to look at
the Comp Plan. To look at this strictly
as a commercial developed area, r think
it is probably not in the best benefit
of the citizens of Louisville, as shown
here tonight with your support. I think
you have done a great job in getting the
word out and building a support group
that we so desperately need and look
10
