..,
Mayor Fauson moved to continue this public hearing to the March
19, 1991 Council meeting, seconded by Hornbostel. All in favor.
DISCUSSION/MOTION - LOUISVILLE CLASSIC BICYCLE RACE - AUGUST 17
,
1991
Baysinger: Chris Grealish with the Sunburst Cycle Club has
contacted staff regarding the Louisville Classic
Bicycle Race. This was presented during the last
Council work session. It is to be held August 17,
1991. The race will draw cyclists and spectators
to the city. Sunburst will take significant
measures to notify residents of the race and
possible traffic difficulties in the neighborhoods
affected by the race. Safety is a primary concern
of staff. We are asking you to authorize staff to
issue a permit to Sunburst Cycle Club to hold the
Louisville Classic Bicycle Race and also for staff
to work with Sunburst Cycle in promoting a quality
event. I also would like to recommend that the
City Attorney review the insurance provided
through Sunburst to make sure there is adequate
coverage on the city's part.
Hornbostel: Who would deal with the clean-up?
Baysinger: The race committee themselves will.
Howard moved to have the Louisville Classic Bicycle Race on
August 17, 1991 under the terms outlined under Item 5D and that
the attorney look at the insurance issue, seconded by Szymanski.
All in favor.
DISCUSSION/MOTION - LOUISVILLE RECREATION CENTER USAGE FOR
SPECIAL OLYMPICS
Baysinger: A request from Special Olympics to use the
Louisville Recreation Center was discussed at the
February 26, 1991 Council work session. Bob
Wright, reviewed the request with Council. The
only change in this item has been the date. As it
turns out the original request of May 18 is not
going to fit into their schedule. They are
looking at either Sunday, May 5th, or Sunday, May
19th. At this point in time I do not see either
one of those dates presenting a problem.
Davidson: I support this idea, but since the recreation
center is on a tight budget what I would like is
for the Finance Committee to look at ways to
reimburse the recreation center budget for their
out of pocket cost for this event.
Mayor Fauson: Is there anything else that is happening on the
10
