..11
Wilson: As someone who was against W-470 beltway/super
highway, I find the proposed Northwest Parkway
something that is probably acceptable or one of
those compromises that we are going to be forced
to make. I find it acceptable under certain
conditions and among those should be it really is
a parkway that is contained by open space, that is
protected from strip development, that is a modest
local transportation corridor, not a beltway or
super highway. I think this needs to be a Class 2
highway and not a Class 1 highway. I think it
needs to be planned very carefully and planned so
that it does the least possible damage to existing
property owners. Under those conditions the
parkway is something that is acceptable and will
enhance local transportation routes without being
a beltway or super highway. I think we need to
limit this to a parkway and in order to think
about the future of the Metro area and quality of
life, we need to shift from building space for
automobiles to an efficient mass transportation
plan for the Denver Metro area.
Walt Wood, Rt 2 Box 662, Broomfield, Colorado.
Wood: The main reason I came tonight is to make a
showing and for you people to know that we people
that are along Dillon Road are very interested in
what is going to take place. Does not feel that
the new airport is needed at this. I would
consider the fact that we don't need a highway to
be built to and from the airport.
Paula Neumann, 10935 Dillon Road, Broomfield, Co.
Neumann: I would like to point out the small amount of open
space that would be effected if the parkway were
to go south of Dillon Road through the Rock Creek
farm. There is approximately 25 miles of parkway
land and less than one mile of it would have to go
through the Rock Creek farm. The amount of open
space that Rock Creek has for open space, this
would just cut off a small edge of the total Rock
Creek farm. I would hope you would consider going
south of Dillon Road to Rock Creek Farm.
Arthur Neumann, 10935 Dillon Road, Broomfield, Colorado
Neumann: I bought 56 acres off of Dillon Road in 1974.
There wasn't one tree on the property and we
planted 600 trees and I think there are about 150
trees left. Every time this road comes down the
pike it is aimed at my property. Every time I
turn around this thing becomes a situation where
my property is going to be eaten up by the
6
