...

highway, W-470 or open space. Since I moved on
this property we put on three lakes. We have a
quite a few birds that come in each year. There
isn't anyone more for open space than I am. If
everyone in this county would have spent as much
money has I have on open space to improve it they
wouldn't have to designate open space, it would be
there.

Rocky Haight, 10925 Dillon, Broomfield, Colorado.

Haight: I was told by a County official this parkway was
designed to avoid the opposition, is wasn't
necessarily going to be a good route. I think
this is a terrible way to design a highway. I
don't believe this is going to be a parkway. If
they start to build this thing you are going to be
scrambling for state and federal money. This
route is going to be used for everything. If
everyone thinks this is going to be a nice little
parkway, I bet you're wrong on it. You want to
keep the cost down, yet they pick out Dillon Road
which is probably the most expense land they could
buy. You are going to have to put double service
roads on each side of the parkway. They have
money in the budget for landscaping the new road,
Dillon Road is already landscaped. We have 100
year old trees along there. Leave Dillon Road
there for the landscape and cut a new road through
the open space. Neumann's lake is something to
consider. If the Commissioners want a highway
they better start considering open space instead
of the homes of the residents that vote that live
on Dillon Road.

Elmer crider, 9355 Paradise Dr., Broomfield, Colorado

Crider: I am opposed to the route going down South 96th
and Dillon Road. Strongly opposed to that. If
that proposed route goes through it will force
relocation on a lot of families, where as the
southeastern route goes through empty land.
Families are a part of the county too. We pay the
taxes, the land doesn't. Which is going to become
a more important consideration, the families, big
business interest, or empty open space? Only a
small portion of open space will be used, but all
of someone's house will go. That may not be
important to you, but please try to think of these
families. They are people, people who love their
homes and locations, who pay taxes, who elected
County Officials. If elected officials put more
priority on land than on people things are in a
sorry mess.

7
