...

Pauline Kilker, Rt 2 Box 661, Broomfield, Colorado

Kilker: We have been in our home for 52 years. We
certainly don't want a road to go right down
Dillon Road and take our homes. You have open
space just south of us that could be used for the
road.

Jim SChreiter, Rt 2, Box 645, Broomfield, Colorado 80020

Schreiter: When you talk about open space it seems like the
open space in Boulder County is something
different from others. A farm is nothing but open
space. W-470 authority or the parkway authority,
they mark it open space if the County or the city
owns it, but if a farmer owns it it's not open
space. I don't know the difference. I do know
that I have preserved this for the birds. My
purpose is to make a living and stop the cities
from growing together. I'm not interested in
selling this land, or the price of land or your
big development that would increase my land value.
I'm not interested in that, I'm interested in
staying there and am very much opposed to this
highway going in and through my property. The
airport in this is not the issue, the airport is
something they tell us this highway is going to
go to. Each of the groups that are meeting are
trying to decide what is in it for them. This is
not a road to the airport, this is a developer's
dream. Broomfield wants it because Interlocken
wants it so they can sell their property. The
bottom line is money, they don't care where this
highway goes or who it affects as long as they can
sell their land. There is an abandoned railroad
that crosses 287; why not use this land? If you
put this beltway over on the railroad, you could
develop 96th. You don't have to be locked in on
something that Broomfield says. Put this road in
a straight line.

Don Shonkwiler, 400 McCaslin Blvd., Louisville, Colorado.

Shonkwiler: The issue about the Denver airport, I read the
same article that Councilman Howard read, this
article was more of a "let's get some facts on the
table and find out whether or not we can really
pullout of the airport." It was more, we really
can't get out of the airport, we are in to it now
so deeply that we can't pullout. I believe the
airport will be built. I do believe it does has a
impact on the future of Louisville, the quality of
life in Louisville, the economic future of
Louisville. On my part that access is going to be
barricaded at Broomfield. I think the lack of

8
