Could the Council impose <br />certain requirements (attendance, hours <br />worked, quality of work product, etc. ) on the <br />performance of an elected City Clerk? <br />Council could set standards, but could not <br />enforce - electors must recall elected City <br />Clerk. state statutes 31-4-40 - Clerk must <br />perform duties required by city ordinance. <br />Question No. 4. Under the present Municipal <br />Code, the City Clerk may appoint deputy city <br />clerks. There is no reference to these <br />people being selected under or responsible to <br />the city's personnel rules and regulations. <br />If the Mayor and Council decide to leave the <br />City Clerk position elected, can there be any <br />control over how deputy city clerks are <br />selected. <br />This is not clear in the statutes.
