....,
submit that request and get that funded by the County
and then have it lump sum reimbursed to us. That isn't
a problem for us, that gets it out of the building permit
and the extra cost. I don't have a problem funding that
money for the period of time until that budget request
could be made, one thing I would like to see is may be
a little higher commitment level on the part of the
County to fund that request.
Sackett: History is that Louisville took McCaslin and made it a
major arterial and as a result the folks up there are
having to deal with the need for access. This had been
there previous to the time when we developed the
master plan for that area. I know that newspapers said
that I voted for the landfill and all that and the reason
I didn't vote for the landfill was because you just have
to be cognizant of what your neighbor's needs are when
you do planning and it is true that we don't have any
legal obligation to anybody but I think Louisville needs
to have a reputation for fairness. It seems to me that
given Mr. Phare and the folks from the County have sat
down and figured out a reasonable plan to deal with our
growth on McCaslin that it is appropriate for us to at
least step to the table and say we are willing to
accommodate their means. I think it is appropriate for
the County to pitch in for their citizens, these are their
citizens and the County and the City have been able to
work together in the past and I guess the direction I
would like to see administration take is that we are in
this but we are not made of money, we are in this
together to resolve this. The community around us
need to have some assurances that if we are going to do
things to improve our City that it won't be to the
detriment of their property. That would be a good
signal.
Fauson: I agree with that John. We should ask the County for
reimbursement for that money and we should do that as
soon as possible. If the County would so desire there
may be some trade offs in some other areas where we
could recover that in some of the roads that belong to
the County or if we could just go ahead and enter that
into their 1992 budget.
10
