......
Department and the District Attorney's office also receives passes. Greeley explained the
advantages of the Fire Department having access to passes to the Recreation Center
explaining that it is critical for the volunteers to be in good physical shape do to the
strenuous activity of being a fire fighter. Greeley thanked the Council for their time and
consideration.
Sackett: The $200.00 request is a good one. The passes are a
little concern. We have a lot of volunteers for the City
and we haven't handed out passes in the past and that
needs more study. I'm not sure who should study that.
The $200.00 request is reasonable.
Davidson: Sharon is not here, do we still have money left over in
the donation budget?
Brand: You do. I think you have that much.
Davidson: What I suggest is that we take that $210.00 out of the
donation budget and consider it a donation. I don't
think the Recreation Center should suffer the loss of
funds. It is important that they are doing real well and
we don't start giving away their services. The proper
place to fund it is out of the donation fund, if there is
money still available.
Davidson moved that the $210.00 refund be taken out of the donation budget, seconded
by Mayor Fauson.
Howard: I have one concern, and that is that it is after the fact.
I am not against picking up the tab for it, but I would
have preferred that they would have come before
Council before their picnic. They knew about it in
advance, prior to asking for this. My only suggestion is
not only this group but in the future that any requests
for fee reduction come before the funds have been
expended. It is now unfair for the City to essentially
repair something that we should have seen prior to the
money being expended. I don't have a problem with the
City using the mechanism that Councilman Davidson
suggested, but in the future I would like to do that first
and not after. It makes life a lot easier.
4
