...,
Howard: Is there increase cost for maintenance?
Phare: It depends on if you assume the City maintains it.
When we first started having discussions months ago on
this access issue with residents up there, I indicated that
if we were to maintain it, it would be on a very low
basis after our priorities and all our streets are plowed,
swept and sanded. It would only come after we
addressed our own needs. I didn't feel that we had to
assign that a higher priority or even as high a priority as
residents in town.
Sy Jay, 439 South 80th Street, County Resident
Jay: I am passing out a letter signed by all the County
Residents have all signed in favor of the road as worked
out between the City of Louisville and the County
Public Works Department (Mr. Misner and Mr. Phare).
We believe that it accommodates all of the concerns
that we had relative to not having such a road. Mainly
a direct right on/right off from McCaslin directly into
our driveways we feel would be highly unsafe and
undesirable. We currently do have access to our
driveways via an access road the one that would be
worked out would be smaller but still adequate for our
needs. I think that it is fair to say that nobody has
gotten everything they wanted out of this plan but I
believe that it has provided for a reasonable bases for
all parties to be satisfied. I was interested in Mr.
Howard's questions particularly the one does this serve
any benefit for the citizens of Louisville. I think the
answer to that is not directly, however, I believe that
McCaslin Blvd. would be a highly unsafe road were you
to have people slowing to a very low rate in the right
hand lane to make ninety degree turns into narrow
driveways. I believe this will be very detrimental to the
City of Louisville and the citizens who will undoubtedly
use McCaslin as an important arterial. Certainly it will
benefit the County residents, there is no doubt of that.
I do not believe it gives us a better access to our
property than we currently enjoy. Every body is getting
a fair shake out of this deal. Thank you.
Davidson: I have one comment and that is the cost of this project
7
