has been prepared on each of the three properties and
submitted to the State. We are awaiting the outcome of
the assessment. The contractors to actually perform the
work at the three sites w_ere selected through an open
competitive bid process. Those bids were publicly
opened August 19. The work write-ups went out to bid
on August 8. The contractors selected to perform the
low bid competition are MSI of Englewood and JBC
Construction of Arvada. Each of those firms will
perform various tasks at each of the three properties.
The three properties have a total of 13 two-bedroom
units. They are located at 1201 Lincoln which has
eight-apartments, commonly known as the Brown
Derby Apartments; work being performed there will be
the patio enclosures, roof work, flat work, siding and
paint 111 Bela Vista, a triplex, is having a new roof and
gutter system placed on it, the third property is at 1200
E. Spruce, a duplex, new roof, storm windows and
refrigerator, total cost of the work at this location is
$7,261.00. Following the receipt of the contract in
January, the contractors will be given the go ahead to
move forward. Depending on the property and the site,
it is a six to eight week construction time line. The
weather might also have some effect. We should finish
this program by early Summer at the latest. The
contracts stipulate that we need to have it wrapped up
in September of 1992. I ask that Council support both
documents this evening.
Sackett: Would you agree that the Louisville Housing Authority
has read the contracts and has assured that we are
giving priorities to large families and that there is an
affirmative marketing plan?
Reis: Any time we enter into an application process for State
and Federal funding those types of pieces are part of
the applications and are submitted with the State
Department of Local Affairs as part of the application.
Howard: Seeing how this is a contract through the City and to
the Housing Authority, is there any liability if the work
is not completed or if there are any problems with the
project? Is the City going to have any liability for any
of the work that is performed?
5
