Planning Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />May 13, 2010 <br />Page 9 of 13 <br />McCartney reminded the Planning Commission they can recall a special review <br />use at anytime to review hours of operation. <br />Pritchard asked Sholders for specific hours of operation. <br />Sholders stated from lunch to closing, which would be approximately when the <br />sun goes down. <br />Russell asked if the site is planned for seasonal service only. <br />Sholders explained a small area next to the building would have an all-weather <br />covered area with portable heating units. <br />Members of the Public: <br />Joan Riggins, 640 Main Street expressed concern another restaurant is being <br />planned for downtown. She asked how many restaurants can the downtown <br />support. She reported there are currently fourteen (14) locations with some type <br />of food and beverage service. <br />Sonja Sabels, 808 Lafarge Ave, discussed the following and enco ed the <br />Planning Commission to consider these items when ing their de n: <br />• Additional noise created with the increase i is in the alley. <br />• Delivery trucks operating . all hours of th y and night. <br />• Trash removal occurring - times a w <br />• Additional traffic created b o . d patrons. <br />Sheets asked Sabels if any of the concerns •ecifically related to Waterloo <br />and if so, had she complained to the owner - to <br />Sabels stated she did not come tonight to complain but to present things for the <br />Commissioners to consider when they approve another restaurant location that <br />backs to residential property. <br />Russell asked staff what the hours of operation are for Waterloo. <br />McCartney stated th atio hours are until midnight on Friday and Saturday. <br />Staff and Applicant ary and Recommendation: <br />Staff and applicant ha additional comments. <br />Public Hearing Closed mission Comments: <br />O'Connell sta she rs the project, especially the patio seating on Main <br />Street. She bell he Commission will need to monitor the hours of operation <br />and any complain garding noise. <br />Loo stated her support of the dining concept. She would also support the removal <br />of the curb cut and the hours of operation should end at midnight. <br />Sheets stated her support of the project and the hours of operation should end at <br />midnight. If the hours aren't working for the applicant then he can come back to <br />the Commissioners and request additional hours. She also expressed concerns <br />with the closeness to the residential area. <br />
