Mayor Charles Sisk
City of Louisville
Louisville, Colorado
Re: Horticultural Advisory Board
Dear Mr. Sisk,
Richard C. McCullough, LLC
Richard C. McCullough, PhD
Consulting Geologist/Petrophysicist
I would like to apply for a position on the Horticultural Advisory Board of the City of Louisville.
I am a resident of Louisville, and I have a desire to contribute to the community.
I am a consulting geologist by profession and a plant person by avocation. I have no direct
experience or connection to the Green industry. I am currently participating in the CSU and
Boulder County Extension training program to become a Master Gardener.
This training is extensive, and as a result of the knowledge I have acquired, I am interested in the
Urban forest. In particular, I have noticed that while local communities are doing a good job of
planning and planting trees, that close examination reveals that many of the newly planted trees
are not responding well and are in decline. I would therefore like to better understand the city's
management of its forest resources and evaluate planting follow up practices with an eye to
improving and insuring the success of the city's plantings.
Thank you for your consideration,
/, f 4 % /
i/
Richard C.
