Comprehensive Plan <br />2 0 0 5 U P D A T E <br />Public Workshop Summary <br />September 16 2004 <br />A public Open House and Workshop were held on September 16, 2004 from <br />6:30 — 9:OOpm at the Arts Center in Louisville. The public was notified of the <br />meeting via the project website, mailings, cable T.V. and the newspaper (see <br />Figure 1). <br />Part I. Open House <br />Ken Johnstone (Louisville <br />Dept. of Planning) and <br />Bruce Meighen (EDAW) <br />presented a summary of the <br />process and the objective of <br />the Workshop. They noted <br />that at the first public <br />meeting, attendees identified <br />areas that were changing in <br />Part 11. Workshop <br />What is your <br />vision <br />of the community? <br />City of Laisvi'le <br />Come share your thoughts on the future of Louisville. What do you <br />want to see? Further information is available at <br />www.co.louisville.co.us, <br />The purpose of the Open <br />House was to review the <br />progress that has been made <br />since the first Public Meeting <br />on June 30, 2004. Attendees <br />were asked to visit 4 stations to <br />comment and discuss inform- <br />ation regarding the process, <br />schedule, public involvement, <br />existing conditions (land use, <br />environmental resources, de- <br />mographics, market study <br />summaries, and housing study <br />summaries), the July 2004 <br />Citizen Survey, vision, planning <br />principles, and Areas of Change maps. In addition to a viewing the draft vision <br />statement, each attendee received a Vision and Principles Comment Form, a <br />handout with lines next to each statement where one could modify or re -write <br />principles and return the handout to City staff. An understanding of the issues to <br />date and status of the planning process allowed each attendee to more fully <br />engage in the second half of the meeting, the Workshop. <br />Figure 1.
