PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Peter Stewart, 1132 Jefferson Avenue, Louisville, CO complimented the Planning Staff <br />for their work and the open process. He addressed murals and urged Council to <br />consider a Special Review Use process. <br />Mark Zaremba, 927 Main Street, Louisville, CO also complimented the Planning Staff <br />for their work. He addressed murals and felt they are a work of art. He presented an <br />example of a mural he proposed for the Blue Parrot Restaurant. <br />Michael Menaker, 1827 Choke Cherry Drive, Louisville, CO commended the Planning <br />Division and former Planning Director Paul Wood and noted the goal was to add <br />flexibility to the sign code. He addressed sandwich board signs and noted those signs <br />are currently used in downtown Louisville. He suggested the word <br />"historic" be added to the vision statement. He voiced his support for murals. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Marsella supported murals and the regulation of their size and leaving <br />the restrictions on sandwich boards. Councilor Yarnell concurred. <br />Councilor Dalton felt there should be nominal restrictions on murals. He did not believe <br />sandwich board signs present any problem. <br />Mayor Sisk voiced concern over the potential of a proliferation of sandwich board signs <br />and asked how many signs a business is allowed. City Planner McMillan stated one <br />sign per tenant is allowed. <br />Mayor Sisk supported murals as a use by right, but felt any expansion should require a <br />Special Review. He supported one sandwich board sign per business. <br />Councilor Muckle noted he received many complaints about the proliferation of <br />sandwich board signs and other signs along South Boulder Road however this has not <br />been an issue for downtown Louisville. <br />Mayor Pro Tem Marsella noted the guidelines stipulate a sandwich board sign must be <br />adjacent to the business, therefore no sandwich board signs would be allowed off - <br />premises. Mayor Sisk supported one sandwich board sign off- premises to assist local <br />businesses. <br />Councilor Muckle asked why Staff prohibited off - premise signs. Planning Director Russ <br />explained sandwich boards are allowed downtown because they have an urban <br />condition where the building has no set back and they do not have room for signs. <br />8 <br />
